Markree Castle is located just off the main Sligo to Dublin Road (the N4), near the village of Collooney in Co. Sligo

From Dublin / Galway

At the ‘Collooney Roundabout’, take the third exit
Follow the R290 for 700m / ½ mile
At the top of the hill on the right, take the turn for Markree Castle

From Sligo / Donegal

At the ‘Collooney Roundabout’, take the first exit

Ireland West Airport

Kilgarriff West, Charlestown, Co. Mayo, Ireland

There are regular flights from London to Ireland West Airport which is the closest airport to Sligo, being only 31 miles away. It is a 40 minute journey by car and about an hour journey by Bus Éireann.

Car hire services at Knock airport are provided by Budget, AVIS, Hertz and Europcar.

Alternatively Bus Éireann operates daily coaches from Ireland West Airport to Sligo.

Dublin Airport

Dublin Airport is the closest international airport and is situated 6 miles north from the capital city and around 130 miles from Sligo. It is a two and a half hours journey by car.

Car rental at Dublin Airport is provided by Hertz, Avis, Europcar, Enterprise, Budget, Dooley and Sixt.

Alternatively, there is a shuttle service to the city center, and the Iarnród Éireann train departs from Dublin Connolly Station and the bus from Busaras.
The train journey takes three hours and is more advisable for the sake of comfort and speed!
From Monday - Saturday trains depart from Connolly Station to Collooney.
